22519 Main Street, Hayward, CA 94541 - 510-881-9877

The Turf Club is located at the crossroads of the East Bay, in its brand new location, near the corner of Main and 'A' Streets in Hayward. We reopened our doors on January, 2002 with a Party that everyone still talks about, after 18 months of planning, remodeling, a lot of long days and nights, and endless weekends of construction.
The Turf Club is fortunate to be in the center of the entire bay area. Central to the East Bay, the Turf Club has long been a popular drinking and meeting place. It is comfortably nestled within a mile or so of other Imperial Pubs, giving visitors and locals’ lots to choose from. Our patrons come from everywhere: San Jose, Fremont, Burlingame, South San Francisco, San Francisco, Alameda, Oakland, Livermore, San Ramon, Stockton and the list goes on and on because we are situated just blocks from Hwy 880, Hwy 580, and the Turf Club is two blocks from the Hayward Bart Station. The San Mateo Bridge also ends directly in Hayward so all our friends in the Peninsula have easy access from Hwy 101.
Since 1923, the Turf Club was located at the corner of Mission Blvd. and "A" Street. In June we were forced to shut our doors and relocate when the city of Hayward claimed eminent domain and provided two city blocks to an Albertson's Supermarket superstore. We now reside at 22519 Main Street, just one block from our old site.
Nobody is quite sure how the Turf Club got its "World Famous" status. Some conjecture it derives from the club's earlier days, when it was half the size it was at the old location, and it had no indoor ‘conveniences' like toilets. One of the joys of coming of age in Hayward was learning the subtleties of using the outhouse in the rear lot.
Owners since 1985, quickly shot it full of country-western atmosphere, and since that time, it has been a springboard for popular local talent. Anyone who enjoys the entertainment of Shar, CQ, Tom McGovern, and many others can thank the Turf for providing much of the early exposure to these popular artists. Plus, one of the area's most beloved country groups, "Donna and the Wildfire Band", called the Turf Club home since 1986.
Rarely a weekend goes by without some kind of event, or party, kicking up at the Turf Club. Although the Turf Club is known primarily as a country-western and leather-Levi bar, one of its myriad charms lies in the diversity of its patrons. The Turf Club is frequented by students, business-types, locals and out-of-towners. Men and women feel equally comfortable here, and the crowd is always a pleasant cross-section of our community.
In addition to many of our own illustrious monarchs and their loyal subjects, many successful Imperial Star Empire, In-Memory Fund, Alameda County Leather Corps fundraisers take place here! The Turf Club had hosted the Mr. & Ms. Alameda County Leather Contest, Mr. Drummer and Drummer Boy Contest, and Cheeks and Chaps Contest up until a few years ago when the contests out grew The Turf Club.
A.C.L.C., as well as ISE, and In-Memory Fund, continue to frequent the bar for their board meetings, member meetings, fundraisers, and just to have fun.
Since the days of our parking lot-turned-patio at our old location, our new location offers a 1900 sq. ft. indoor entertainment area and it will have a 4400 square-foot outdoor entertainment area. The new location has a private patio for smoking or relaxing. Look for the extended entertainment area, extended outdoor deck.
Weekday afternoons often kick up a lot of dust. Stop by for a quick one and you just may wind up staying for last call.
Two large TV's for sporting events, dice, pinball machines, the California Lottery and more are available.
Shoot pool with your friends, or strangers that will soon become your new friends, everyday at The Turf Club. The pool table is available Sunday through Wednesday from 10am until closing and Thursday through Saturday from 10am until 9pm when it mysteriously disappears at 9pm and then reappears the next morning.
Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall the shirts come off as the dance floor heats up with music from local DJ's, every Thursday through Saturday starting at 9pm.
When you visit the Turf, you'll be greeted by one of our friendly bartenders.
Give the Turf Club a look; you'll be glad you did!
And remember....
